Coco Grove Beach Resort - Siquijor Island
 |
The Coco Grove
Beach Resort is located in Barangay Tubod, 15 minutes from the
town center of the municipality of
San Juan, on the southwestern shore of Siquijor Island. The resort
covers a sprawling 2.5 hectares (about 6 acres) and is an ideal
place for relaxing, swimming, snorkeling and virtually any other
activity under the sun. Directly in front of the resort is a strip
of fine white sand beach where you can bask under tropical palm
trees. |
 |
The resort is located directly in
front of one of the islands marine sanctuaries and is prime location
to go snorkeling right from the beach in front of the resort. The
salinity of the Bohol Sea is very high, making it very easy to
float, but if you are nervous about your swimming abilities, ski
vests are always available. Also, sharks are almost non-existent in
the Visayas due to the shallow, warm waters. I can't ever remember
hearing of a shark attack in the waters around the Visayan Islands. |
 |
Coco Grove Beach Resort has a total
of 25 cozy and charming native bungalows. Most are constructed
duplex style and all are spacious and graciously laid out with their
own private veranda, air conditioner, marble tiled bathroom, hot and
cold shower and a mini bar stocked with beverages. These cottages
are built in the midst of tropical palm grove and natural
landscaping. |
 |
There are two fresh water swimming
pools, one which is right in the middle of the palm grove and the
other, a much bigger one, is complete with a pool bar and friendly
native bartender who is always ready to serve. |
 |
The restaurant, Salamandas, provides
a wide selection of European and Filipino Cuisine that is sure to
satisfy. Another wonderful treat is a moonlight serenade by the
local in house singers who perform Filipino folk songs or Spanish
melodies. |
 |
On some nights, usually Saturday
nights, the Siquijor Kultura Dance Troupe presents a special
showcase of Philippine folk dances while you dine on an outstanding
buffet dinner of fresh seafood and select Filipino dishes. The
occasion is always capped off with a splendid display of fireworks
under the Siquijor sky. |
 |
Aside from the two freshwater pools,
you have free access to the available recreational facilities such
as the billiards, darts, volleyball, scrabble and table tennis. The
resort has a full range of boats available for our use. An in-house
dive shop called the Sea Explorers is ready to outfit our snorkeling
gear and can also hook you up with dive gear if you are already a
qualified diver (bring your card). |
 |
All-in-all, this is a very nice,
quiet and peaceful resort. It is very tastefully decorated in the
native tradition and has an exotic, almost romantic ambiance. This
resort stays booked 30 to 45 days out, year round, and sometimes as
much as 2-3 months. Just another reason we plan 2 months ahead in
order to get bookings at the finest resorts. |
