Leyte Park Resort - Tacloban
 |
The Leyte Park Resort was built by the former First
Lady, Imelda Marcos (infamous for owning over 10,000 pairs of shoes)
in 1979 and was later refurbished in 1994. The resort is now a major
tourism and convention complex with its six hectares (13.5 acres) of
parkland nestled on a hill overlooking the beautiful San Pedro Bay.
|
 |
The resort has multiple dining facilities that
cater to most and taste or craving. The Veranda Cafe is the
resort’s main restaurant, located on the second floor which
provides spectacular views of the mountains and the sea, and
offers International cuisine. The San Pedro Bay Seafood
Restaurant is located at the resort’s marina. This specialty
restaurant offers the bounty of the sea, cooked just the way you
like it or sushi-style if you prefer. The Lana Lynn Catamaran, a
floating restaurant, will take you on a leisurely dinner cruise
over the San Pedro Bay. This restaurant offers American and
Canadian cuisine. The Pool patio wet bar offers snacks and
frozen delights by the pool side. For coffee addicts, of which I
am definitely one, there is the Park Cafe which offers the full
range of coffees, lattes, espressos and cappuccinos.
|
 |
Other facilities at the resort are the business
center which has guest access computers as well as
photocopy and fax services. The gift shop is open daily from
9:00am to 6:00pm. The resort’s fitness center operates from
1:00pm - 9:00pm daily except on Sundays. Conferences and
banquets are accommodated in the resort’s two convention
centers. The Don Joseph Pavilion has a built-in dance floor
while the President’s Hall is ideal for small receptions of up
to 70 persons and overlooks the panoramic view of Mount Danglay
and San Pedro Bay. |
 |
This is, by far, the most famous and desired
resort in the area. The service here is excellent and the
choices of cuisine are equally impressive. We reserve only the
cottage villas that are located very near to the San Pedro Bay
area and overlook the picturesque Samar Island and San Juanico
Strait. |
 |
As with most everywhere else we stay, we do not
spend much time at the resorts other than to unwind, reflect and
rest-up for the following day's activities and rides, but we
definitely want you to be comfortable for the time you are relaxing
and this resort fits the billing very well. This "Resort" like most
other Filipino resorts could use some maintenance/updating here and
there but the rooms are very nice, the staff is super friendly and
most catering to your requests, the pool facilities are very clean
and well maintained and the location of this resort is primo.
