Almont Inland Resort - Butuan City
 |
Located 5 minutes away from the city
center of Butuan, and across the street from Gaisano Mall, the Almont Inland Resort is a sprawling 4-hectare (9
acre) spread that has 52 deluxe rooms and 4 suites which are fully
air-conditioned with cable TV, refrigerator with mini bar, National
Direct Dial (NDD) and International Direct Dial (IDD) telephone, hot and
cold running water and shower. Most rooms have a spacious veranda
overlooking either the swimming pool or the man-made lake. There is also
free WiFi internet service accessible from the restaurant area but
the signal drops off sharply and is difficult to pick-up from the
pool area and is impossible to see from the rooms.
|
 |
The resort has complete conference facilities (Butuan Ballroom which can
accommodate 1,800 persons and the Carmen Room which can seat 100
persons) and the Manay Maling Restaurant (open air) which offers both
local and international cuisine as well as a very nice lunch and dinner
buffet. There is also an open air wet bar
adjacent to the restaurant and main swimming pool. The luxurious lagoon
inspired swimming pool has man-made waterfalls and a separate kiddy pool
with slide. |
 |
Other services and facilities are babysitting, currency exchange, safety deposit boxes, wakeup call,
company
doctor on call, massage service, laundry/pressing services and 24 hour
room service. |

I have stayed at this
resort many times prior to the incorporation of Island Motor
Tours, and it was actually the place I stayed upon my first
visit to the Philippines in Oct 2005. Even then, I was impressed
with the resort's very friendly and catering staff as well as
the very nice accommodations and well manicured grounds (putting
greens excluded). About the only complaint I have ever had is
that the "hot" water is sometimes not so hot at certain high
volume times of the day. The swimming pool is especially nice
with its waterfalls and lagoon theme but the close proximity of
a couple of trees that seem to drop leaves constantly throughout
the year sometimes keep the pool boys busy from daylight to
dark. |
 |
The food quality here
is excellent with free room service. Meals are available as a
menu item anytime from 6:00am to 10;00pm or as a buffet, 3 times
a day. It is especially nice to eat breakfast outside on the
private veranda of the rooms. The gentle tropical breeze and
soft chirping of the native wrens that inhabit the rooflines of
the resort's buildings seem to act as a soothing form of aroma
and auditory therapy. This is a very nice resort at which to
rest from your long trip upon arriving and also to unwind from
your whirlwind motorcycle tour of the islands upon our return.
